Hey there! Welcome back to the blog, hope your February is going well so far and I hope January was good to you! I can’t believe we’re already a month into a new year, time seems to just flash right before my eyes lately. I’m low-key ok with it but I’m not the type of person to wish my time away. So, before this week quickly slips away I wanted to share with you my January favorites! To preface this post, monthly favorites posts are just a run down of all the products/things I was loving last month. Justin (my husband) said, “why are you doing a January favorites post when it’s February?” (lol) If you’re anything like me, you have a few ride or die products but you also introduce new products into your life that you feel you need to tell the whole world about! To be honest, these are my favorite types of videos to watch (I watch a lot of lifestyle vloggers on YouTube) and posts to read because it gives you a really good idea of what someone has genuinely been enjoying and I feel like it’s a great reference if you’ve been wanting to try something new. If I watch or read someone’s favorites and they’re like, “I used this product all through the month and I love it” – I’m like, “I know you mean that and I’m going to try it!” #easilypersuaded
Although I’m generally not a makeup gal and I do struggle to find something that works for my problematic skin, i.e. dry, sensitive, etc, etc. I have found some beauty products that I’ve been enjoying through the month of January and that actually work for me. I usually have to experiment with a bazillion products until I find something that works but I think I’ve found a few beauty products that do wonders!
Currently, I am LOVING the
Water Drop Hydrating Moisturizer
I consulted with one of the Sephora employees (who are fabulous might I add) to help me find a moisturizer that would help my poor dry, sensitive skin and she directed me to this product and I have been repurchasing it ever since.
* I should add that I’ve literally tried EVERY face moisturizer on the market…*
This lightweight, refreshing moisturizer features a special emulsion system with droplets packed full of brightening and nourishing ingredients. The formula bursts into tiny water droplets when applied—providing instant hydration and brightening dull, lackluster skin. The description says it’s great for all skin types, it relieves dry, sensitive skin, revitalize, and prevents visible signs of aging with concentrated antioxidants for a healthier-looking complexion. And that my friends, is not one word of a lie. I use it twice a day, in the morning and before bed and although this product is little on the pricier side at $45.00CAD it’s a good bang for your buck if you suffer from severe dry, sensitive skin.
The next thing I’ve really been loving is the
Rainforest of the Sea Water Foundation
FINALLY, a lightweight, full coverage hydrating foundation! This concentrated, full-coverage formula contains 20 percent water that hydrates my dry skin as it covers and masks redness, dark spots, and uneven skin tone – Enough said. It lasts really well and gives my skin a flawless appearance. Again, a pricey product but I am a huge fan of the tarte brand and I highly recommend checking them out.
The last beauty product that I’ve been loving this month is the
I’ve tried just a couple of high-end mascaras and none of them compare to this one – it thickens and separates my lashes and doesn’t clump or flake on me. It’s suitable for sensitive eyes and the wand on this baby is just perfect, I’ll definitely be repurchasing this one.
Next up, moving onto health and fitness related products. If you read my introduction post then you’ll know how important my health and fitness is to me – a few of these products have become staples in my daily routine and I swear by it.
First health product I’ve been loving and has become a staple in my morning routine is
I take a shot of apple cider vinegar diluted with water very first thing when I wake up every morning. Since incorporating this into my morning routine I find it has improved my digestion, the appearance of my skin and reduced inflammation – I kid you not. I would recommend reading more about it if it’s something you want to include in your diet but it can certainly do no harm.
Next thing that is new to me and I’ve been loving this month is
Water kefir is a probiotic beverage made with water kefir grains or a powdered kefir starter culture – This is another drink I take the first thing in the morning to get my digestion started. My Godmother introduced it to me and she showed how to make my own – I’m still fairly new to it so I would suggest doing a little research if you’d like to make your own. I fermented my kefir grains with water, cane sugar and dried apricots – the result? Delicious! If you’ve ever had Kombucha it’s very similar to that.
Another product I’ve been loving is
I have experimented with SO many different brands and blends of protein powder. This protein powder is hands down the best supplement I have ever come across (in my opinion). It blends well, bakes well, tastes good on its own or even added to your morning oatmeal. It’s a whey + casein blend which is a far more superior choice when looking to add a protein supplement to your diet and the reason why it bakes so well. If you’d like me to post some of my favorite protein recipes let me know! I have TONS.
Lastly, here are some of my random/lifestyle favorites.
I’ve always been a fan of a good planner – I like to write things down as I feel I’m held more accountable by my to-do lists if they’re jotted down on paper. This planner has become my personal assistant since the new year and I carry it with me everywhere. It has a year view, month + week view, weekend to-dos, cute little compliments at the bottom of each page, stickers… I just simply love it! I got mine at Chapters but check out the link above to see more details inside this super cute planner.
Next, in the winter I’m a candle fiend! My favorite scent has been the
There’s nothing more satisfying than getting inside from the cold and lighting your favorite candle. It just adds that little extra cozy feeling to the room which we all crave in the cold winter months. I died when I found this scent in the store, it smells of freshly ground cinnamon with a hint of sugary vanilla and not to mention the gorgeous marble-inspired glass that adds a touch of texture to my decor.
Last, but certainly not least… My new baby
Justin got me this purse for Christmas and I am obsessed with it! It’s the perfect size, very well made and good quality. I’m a high fashion/design geek at heart and Michael just does it for me with his luxury but ready-to-wear fashion, accessories, purses and affordable for a luxury brand.
And that folks wraps it up for my favorites in the month of January! Let me know about some of favorites in the comments below and if there’s anything you would recommend that I should try.
Bye for now!
